County Commissioners and Drainage Board Meeting April 22, 2025

The meeting was called to order.  All Commissioners were present, and the Pledge of

Allegiance was recited.  

E&B Paving provided the lowest bid and was unanimously approved for $1,247,279.63

for milling and resurfacing county roads.  Roads included are Darmstadt, Koressel,

Heinlien and St Joe.

$200 increase was unanimously approved for Drainage improvements between

Millersburg and Heckel Roads.

The sidewalk waiver request for 9239 Denzer Rd was unanimously approved.  Area

Plan Commission previously approved the work 8-0 in favor of.

$869.00 Was unanimously approved for the Health Department.

$850 per month was approved unanimously for Kei Advertising for advertising open

spots at the Old Courthouse.

$65,000 was unanimously approved for Center Point to provide new electric

infrastructure at the Veteran’s Coliseum.

Unanimous approval was given to Curran Miller for $150 auction fee and 6% of

proceeds.

Unanimous approval was granted for $34,261.96 for new radios for police and sheriffs.

The report was given by Megan Klenck for the soil and water conservation district.  She

is the department head and has two employees.  They are working on multiple grants at

one time.  They are working on a rainwater collection system, tree planting and a

pollination project.

Laura Tomes, Superintendent of County Buildings, gave a report on the Veteran’s

Coliseum and old Court House.  Storm damage to the roof in several places was

repaired.  Cupola was repaired. Students from USI were able to turn the bell by

repairing the striker mechanism.  The bell had not been turned for several years.  The

Coliseum must be ADA compliant which is a project to be worked on in phase II of the

process.  Veteran’s Coliseum Preservation Foundation was formed to assist with

funding the renovations.

First Reading were unanimously approved for Rezoning Ordinance VC-5-2025 and

Rezoning Ordinance VC-6-2025 to be sent to the Plan Commission.
