Be the party’s voice in your neighborhood!
Getting involved in the Democratic Party is one of the most effective ways to create meaningful, lasting change in your community. Our party is built from the ground up by people like you—neighbors, workers, parents, and activists—who care about shaping policies that reflect our values. Whether you become a precinct committeeperson, a city council correspondent, or a school board correspondent, your voice helps guide the party’s direction and ensures that local leadership is connected to the issues that matter most. Strong parties build strong communities, and by stepping up, you can help elect leaders, advocate for policies, and grow the movement for a better future. Now is the time to take action—join us and be a part of the change!
-
Precinct Committeepersons are the backbone of our party. They connect voters with our candidates, help recruit poll workers to keep elections fair and accessible, and play a key role in shaping local Democratic leadership by electing replacements for vacant positions through the caucus process. As a Precinct Committeeperson, you’ll inform, engage, and organize your community—ensuring every voice is heard and every vote counts. Be the link between the party and the people.
-
City Council decisions shape everything from local infrastructure to public safety and economic development. As a City Council Correspondent, you’ll attend meetings, track key discussions, and report back on important issues affecting our community. Your insights help keep the Democratic Party informed and ready to advocate for policies that reflect our values. By staying engaged, you ensure that local government remains transparent and accountable.
-
Public education is the foundation of our future, and school boards make crucial decisions that impact students, teachers, and families. As a School Board Correspondent, you’ll attend meetings, track policy changes, and report back on discussions affecting curriculum, funding, and school operations. Your work helps the Democratic Party stay informed and ready to support policies that prioritize quality education and student success.
-
The County Council plays a vital role in funding essential services like public health, emergency response, and county roads. As a County Council Correspondent, you’ll monitor meetings, follow budget decisions, and share updates with the Democratic Party. Your involvement helps ensure that Democrats are aware of policy changes, financial priorities, and opportunities to push for better governance at the county level.
Volunteering is the most powerful way to create change!
Influencing federal policies or issues through a march or protest in a city far from Washington, D.C., can be a challenging task. While it’s true that public demonstrations can raise awareness and galvanize communities, the real challenge lies in the distance between where the protest is taking place and where the decisions are made. Senators and representatives in Congress are typically focused on their constituents back home or on Washington-based activities, and when they don’t have an office in a distant city, it becomes even harder to get their attention or to sway their stance on federal issues. Without a direct connection, local events can feel more like symbolic gestures rather than a force that can drive real change.
That’s why, if you’re deeply invested in making a tangible impact, you may want to shift focus to more localized strategies that also address the broader national conversation. One productive path is to volunteer for local organizations or entities that have lost funding due to federal budget cuts or shifting priorities. These entities might be working on causes directly tied to federal policies, such as healthcare, education, or social services. By offering your time and energy, you’re helping to sustain the local infrastructure that supports national causes, ensuring that people’s immediate needs are met while also demonstrating that local action matters.
We would like to highlight some of those opportunities as they arise here.
Calling your representatives is the best way to make your voice heard!
Once your congressperson forms a public stance on an issue, it’s hard for them to walk it back. The earlier they hear your opinion, the more likely it is you’ll make an impact.
Calling is by far the most effective way to ensure that your representative hears you before they take a public stance.
5 Calls makes it easy for you to reach your members of Congress and make your voice heard. They research issues, write scripts that clearly articulate a progressive position, figure out the most influential decision-makers, and collect phone numbers for their offices.
All you have to do is call.

Grassroots action powers every election!
Additionally, an excellent way to have an impact on federal issues is to get involved in political campaigns, particularly if there are upcoming special elections. Candidates who are running for office, especially if they share your values, are often eager for volunteers to help with phone banking and spreading their message. As a volunteer, you can help to ensure that pro-democratic candidates are elected, who may have a voice in shaping the policy debates at the federal level. Offering to make calls on their behalf can make a substantial difference in races, as personal outreach often leads to higher voter turnout and stronger support. At the same time, by supporting progressive candidates, you help foster a political environment more likely to support your priorities when those candidates eventually rise to higher levels of office. There are two special election happening in Florida, and you find information about them here:
The liberal majority of the Wisconsin Supreme Court is at risk, and with it, collective bargaining rights, abortion rights, fair maps, and every Constitutional freedom under attack by Republicans in the state legislature. Judge Susan Crawford needs our help to protect her judicial seat.
