Vanderburgh County Democrats Stand with WEHT/WTVW’s Union
On Monday, April 21, 2025, WEHT/WTVW fired two well-known union workers in an act of
clear retaliation. Their “offense?” Speaking out—off the clock—in support of their union and
fellow workers. One spoke at a press conference, the other at an Evansville City Council
meeting.
These respected, long-time employees with positive work records were fired for doing what the
law protects:
 Organizing
 Advocating for workers’ rights
 Speaking truth to power
And this isn’t the first time.
April 7 – Five union workers were unjustifiably laid off without bargaining and before a
first contract was in place.
April 21 – Two more union advocates fired for protected speech.
This is blatant union busting by WEHT/WTVW & Nexstar Media Group Inc.
We will not let it go unanswered.
✊ Here’s how you can help:
✅ Refuse interviews with WEHT/WTVW (except for public safety)
✅ Speak out – Issue public statements condemning the firings
✅ Demand reinstatement of the fired workers
✅ Call on Nexstar to negotiate in good faith
