Mayor Terry’s Revitalization Plans Receive Praise - City Council Meeting Summary - March 31, 2025

During the March 31, 2025 Evansville City Council meeting, all nine council members

were present. Key actions included:

• Ordinances G-2025-09, G-2025-04, G-2025-05, and G-2025-08: Accepted with

amendments and adopted.

• Ordinance G-2025-06: Berry Global representatives discussed resolved issues; the

ordinance was adopted.

• Ordinance G-2025-07: Marco DeLucio addressed market delays in refunding revenue

bonds and will update the council upon completion.

• Ordinance G-2025-08: Approved Sheila Stanley’s new taxi business, Diamond

Transportation.

• Ordinance F-2025-03: Authorized funding for “Flight Blight” and “Forward Together”

initiatives. Mayor Terry emphasized affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization,

utilizing interest from federal funds without incurring additional debt. She has listed

collaborating non-profits on her website and seeks further funding. Council members

and attendees praised her efforts.

• Ordinance R-2025-03: Adopted rezoning of 3712 Stringtown.

• Ordinance R-2025-04: Approved rezoning of 3200 N. Burkhardt for a 264-unit

affordable housing development by ANB Investments, following community

consultations.

• Ordinance C-2025-11: Granted expansion for Separation by Design at 1601 Buchanan

Road, creating multiple well-paying jobs.

• Ordinance C-2025-12: Approved property revitalization and new equipment installation

for IRD Group at 2138 N. Sixth Avenue, adding 23 jobs with $28/hour salaries.

• Ordinance C-2025-13: Endorsed the 2025 Evansville Climate Action Plan, presented

by Lauren Norvell of the Evansville Climate Collaborative. The presentation is available

During the open forum, 19 speakers addressed Transgender Day of Visibility,

advocating for gender-affirming care and designating Evansville as a sanctuary city.

Dawn Schwindel, President of River City Pride, emphasized depoliticizing the

discussion to focus on supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
