Personnel requests-

A. Probation officer vacancy approved

A. Clerk- 3 positions approved Jury, Circuit/Superior Counter, M/T Subpoena

C-H approved in one motion

I-M approved in one motion- some confusion as agenda did not list I-4 or M,

but approved after it was decided there had been an updated agenda

Personnel administration review recommendations- vote postponed to May

meeting to allow time to speak with Judge

Appropriation ordinance

A. Sheriff $114k approved

A. Jail $31k approved

A. Public defender $150k approved with much discussion; council to discuss to

come up with specific questions and potential plans to reduce these costs from

continuing to grow at the rate they are currently

A. LIT Public Safety-Jail- $63k approved

Transfers- all approved

New business- Deputy sheriff recruitment- explained there are 5-7 vacancies

expected this year due to retirements and the same slated for next year. Presented

plan to increase advertising for recruitment and request a budget to increase pay

for probationary first year deputies. Due to confusion with paperwork, the

recruitment advertisement funds were approved in appropriation vote and budget

for increasing pay will be voted on in May.
